It's a question we are often asked, and the next question is usually "Why?". So here's our answer - "Would you buy a car and never have it serviced or MOT'd?"
Well a web site is similar in some respects. You wouldn't buy a beautiful car and allow it to sit and rot. After all, your hard earned money has paid for that car and the same can be said for a web site. Regular maintenance will keep your site up to date and ensure your visitors can find you, and just as importanltly, a fully functioning site.
Like the bodywork of a car, computer code can degenerate over time. Not the same way as metal does, but in so much as new coding standards and frameworks are introduced that supersede previous versions, and the old versions become redundant. Browsers on all devices will utilise the latest standards and frameworks and all of a sudden your site is getting left behind. Even Google will penalise you and drop you down its organic search rankings, eventually dumping your site on the big scrap heap in the ether. Ouch!
So we believe the answer is "yes, you do need maintenance" although the choice is entirely yours. However now you know what can and will happen, at least you are armed with a little more information to make your decision.
To make things as flexible as possible we offer 2 options: a PAYG hourly charge, or a rolling monthly contract, which you can cancel at any time (providing you give one months notice).
Below you will see a table listing our maintenance and support packages. These include our Standard Hosting package by default.
If you want us to get on with maintaining your site quietly and effectively, then a monthly contract is your best option. This is a month-by-month option and can be cancelled with one months notice. We have 4 options available, as again we want to be flexible as possible and offer maintenance to all.
There are advantages of paying monthly over a PAYG service. These include:-
Our PAYG hourly charge is £35.00/ph for any work undertaken on your site, which can include system updates and patches, content and design changes, additional development and coding or any other update, upgrade, fix or change that is either required or requested. Of course, anything we deem a "required" change will be discussed prior to undertaking the work, so don't worry there won't be any surprise invoices being raised. With PAYG we will charge the minimum of one hour, with one hour increments thereafter. We are fair however, so if we run over slightly, we won't charge you for an extra hour. It's not the way we work.
